The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949. During its nearly six decades of existence, ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body, in the country and globally, for its contribution in the fields of education, professional development, maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards. ICAI now is the second largest accounting body in the whole world.

Committee on Information Technology
The Committee on Information Technology has been set up by the Institute to map IT developments and convert them into gainful professional opportunities. The Committee is concerned with the training and development of the members in the field of Information Technology and organizes Post Qualification Course on Information Systems Audit (ISA) and has identified IT Enabled Services (ITeS), particularly ERP, as the next area for the development of the profession and has started offering ERP Courses through leading OEM vendors - SAP & Microsoft on the Finance/ Control module. The Committee also offers CPE Course on CAAT, Certification Course on Forensic Accounting & Fraud Prevention using IT & CAATs apart from Practical Workshops on high topics, details of which are available on the Committee Portal at http://cit.icai.org.
To cope up with the fast growing developments in Information Technology sector and with a view to equip its members in this field, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has started a Post Qualification Course on Information Systems Audit for its members leading to the award of degree of D.I.S.A. (ICAI) in the year 2001. Chartered Accountants participating in this course are provided a compulsory 100 hours professional training and are required to qualify two examinations (preliminary and final). This course prepares Chartered Accountants to offer value added services in the field of Information Systems Audit. This way, the Institute has already trained and qualified its members to offer IS Audit, a value added service in increasing demand. It is pertinent to mention that Chartered Accountants with D.I.S.A. (ICAI) qualification are recognized to undertake IS Audit of Banks/ Stock Brokers/ CERT-In and are the preferred assurance service providers for Companies.
The Committee on Information Technology has great pleasure in noting that over 14000 Chartered Accountants have qualified the Post Qualification Course on Information Systems Audit and have started rendering their services in the field of Information Systems.

The Committee on Information Technology has started placement services to interested companies/ Firms on the Committee Portal at http://cit.icai.org by providing the following pertinent details:
- Profile of the Organisation
- Contact Details of concerned officials and their contact details
- Relevant experience justifying their empanelment with ICAI
- Any other detail, which will enhance the candidature of the organization for the proposed purpose.
- Specify whether requirement is for Full Time Employment or for IS Audit Services on Retainer-ship Basis
- City & Region where services are required
The Portal would display a shortlist twenty Chartered Accountants with D.I.S.A. (ICAI) Qualification willing to offer these services and also display this requirement to concerned Chartered Accountants from the required City/ Region, to enable them to send their profile by e-mail.
